Here are two shots of a piebald cow moose taken by my friend Colleen Bevans in Kenai, Alaska.

I’ve watermarked them for Colleen’s protection, since this is a rare sight. I found my neighbor had downloaded some photos off this website and then uploaded them onto her Facebook page as though they were her photos. She claimed they were taken in her back yard. NOT! She’s probably not the only one, so in the future I may be watermarking my photos also.

I saw this cow moose on two occasions about a mile or so down the road from my home. Although I’ve seen a lot of moose tracks in the mud on my hikes, I haven’t encountered one yet or seen one in my yard.

And yesterday morning I woke up to two yearling elk at the mineral block in my yard.

This past winter an acquaintance in town told me about a friend of hers locally that had “adopted” a moose and named her Roxie. Then in another conversation I inferred that Roxie was online in some manner. So finally last night I remembered to google for her. Roxie has a page on Facebook. And for those of you who don’t or can’t use Facebook, there are videos uploaded on YouTube. Enjoy!

I’m down to the last two bales of hay so the web cam will be shutting down on Friday until next Fall. It’s been a good season, but I’m way over budget on moose food this year. The worst of winter is hopefully behind us even though it’s been pretty mild here this year. Time to let the moose fend for themselves elsewhere. I now have 3 months of moose poop to clean up come spring. Do I hear any volunteers??

This makes the 13th moose for this season. It was too dark for me to get a photo of him so I’ll update this post when I do. He’s just got 2 tines on each side, no “plate” area, so I’d say he was younger than Moose #12. Haven’t seen Urkel or the youngest lone bull in several days. I’m quite surprised to see a new critter at this time of year. It has to be due to our lack of snow this year. However a major storm arrives this evening through Sunday morning.
